Return of the Deloitte Top 200 Business Awards

NZME Events Announce Return of the Deloitte Top 200 Business Awards

12 October 2016 – NZME Events in partnership with Deloitte are excited to announce the official annual awards event the Deloitte Top 200 will be held on Thursday 1 December at the Vector Arena.

The awards are celebrating their 27th year, having been established in 1990 to annually recognise and applaud outstanding individual and team performances in New Zealand’s largest companies and trading organisations.

NZME CEO Michael Boggs says the awards are a great opportunity to commend excellence and achievement in the business community. “NZME is thrilled to partner with Deloitte to bring this prestigious event to the business community once again. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate everything that makes a successful business; leadership, entrepreneurship, strategy and growth.”

The black tie event celebrates excellence in a number of categories. The categories are Diversity Leadership, Most Improved Performance, Best Growth Strategy, Young Executive of the Year, Excellence in Governance, Chairperson of the Year, Visionary Leader, Chief Financial Officer and Executive of the Year, and Company of the year. Laura McGoldrick and Greg Boyed will MC the event.

Deloitte CEO Thomas Pippos says Deloitte is proud to have been a founding partner of the Top 200 Awards and is delighted with how the Awards have grown over the years, particularly in the past decade. Pippos says “The Top 200 is the premier business awards for the New Zealand business community. The event brings together many of the country’s top CEO’s and business leaders who are continuing to innovate against the backdrop of our ever-changing business landscape.”

The theme of this year’s event is Investing in the Future. With the growing challenges facing New Zealand due to our increasingly diverse population, child poverty, high youth unemployment, the spiralling Auckland housing market and increased infrastructure demands on our cities, how do we as a country guard against the kinds of social disruption we are seeing in other parts of the world? How can we better position our country for future generations and what role should our largest companies play as drivers of prosperity, both economic and social? Building strategies to invest in society will create better, brighter and stronger communities. What’s more, an investment in social change is difficult to reverse. Once it takes root, it can only grow.

This year’s judges have the difficult task of selecting the finalists and narrowing the outstanding group down to a winner. Dame Alison Paterson, Fran O’Sullivan, Neil Paviour-Smith, Sandy Maier, Jonathan Mason and Cathy Quinn will sit on the panel.

The awards would not be possible without a number of sponsors. Many have returned from previous years such as QBE, Eagle Technology and Minter Ellison Rudd Watts, with new sponsors such as Orbit coming on board, recognising the value of these awards.

Tickets for the 27th annual Top 200 are available here. For more information on the event visit the Top 200 website.
