Peak to Plateau having international success with yak wool
We have raised almost $25k in one week of our crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/peaktoplateau/yak-wool-baselayers-from-tibet-to-the-world
Peak to Plateau was founded by university student Stefan Warnaar after spending three months travelling through Mongolia and Central Asia, where he discovered yak wool. Yak fiber is warmer, softer and more breathable than merino, and with this knowledge he began developing the fiber into outdoor clothing that outperforms the competition.
Peak to Plateau was built around two main principles - create the world's best outdoor clothing, and do it in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible so every sale benefits everyone involved in the process. We ensure this by sourcing our yak fiber directly from herders on the Tibetan Plateau, paying a fair price so they can continue their way of life. We blend the yak fiber with Tencel, which is a natural fiber made from the Eucalyptus tree and is processed using an award-winning environmentally friendly process.
Stefan Warnaar recently finished studying
Chemical Engineering at the University of Canterbury. He has
been awarded scholarships to take part in the UC Centre for
Entrepreneurship Summer Start-Up Programme and won a 5k
prize in the Entre 85k Challenge which ran during the
year.
