AIG and NZME Helping Businesses to Raise Their Game

30 May 2017 – AIG is hosting ‘Raising Your Game’, a breakfast event produced by NZME Events, that will focus on determination, preparation and innovation. The event will be on June 27 at Auckland’s SkyCity Theatre at 7am.

An impressive list of speakers, from both on and off the rugby field will discuss what teams across both business and sport require in order to reach the next level. They will speak to the common-ground held by businesses and sports teams alike, with a focus on the risks and opportunities that come with taking a team on the next step to greatness.

Richie McCaw, Sir Graham Henry, Sean Fitzpatrick, Sir Clive Woodward, Dr Farah Palmer, Brent Impey and Daniel Glantz will all talk about their experience of leading high performing teams to success on the global stage, highlighting the parallels between sports and business. The breakfast will be MC’d by Scotty Stevenson.

Daniel Glantz, Global Head of Sponsorship at AIG, believes the event will leave people feeling inspired and reflective. “There are many similarities between leading a great sports team and a great business team; we are looking forward to exploring those while learning from some of rugby’s best leaders, and continuing AIG’s support of the All Blacks and New Zealand Rugby”.

SPEAKERS

Sir Graham Henry
Sir Graham has a long history of rugby coaching, working with Wales, the British Lions, and Super 12 sides before his time with the All Blacks. He was appointed All Blacks head coach in 2004, starting his impressive tenure with a win against the 2003 Rugby World Champions, England. Sir Graham stepped down 2011 after being named IRB Coach of the Year for a 5th time. He was later knighted for his coaching work. More recently, Sir Graham has continued his coaching, working with Auckland Blues and the Argentinian Rugby Union.

Sir Clive Woodward
As a coach and leader Sir Clive Woodward is synonymous with two of England’s most historic sporting achievements: England’s 2003 Rugby World Cup victory and Team GB’s London 2012 Olympic Games. In addition to his success as a player and a coach, Sir Clive established a successful business career as an entrepreneur, business consultant, and public speaker.

Richie McCaw
Richie McCaw is arguably the greatest rugby player of all time and held in high esteem around the world. In his time with the All Blacks he recorded 131 test wins in world record 148 tests, and is a strong and natural leader, captaining the team for 111 tests. One of the greats of the modern rugby game, McCaw led the All Blacks to Rugby World Cup glory in 2011 and 2015 and claimed the World Rugby Player of the Year Award a record three times. McCaw retired at the end of 2015 and now splits his time across a wide range of charity, sponsorship and business interests, and is a keen pilot, holding licenses for both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. In 2016, McCaw became the youngest person ever appointed to the Order of New Zealand, the country’s highest honour that can only be held by 20 living New Zealanders.

Sean Fitzpatrick
Sean Fitzpatrick played 92 international rugby matches for the All Blacks from 1986-1998, including a world record of 63 consecutive test matches, and 51 test matches as captain. In 1999, he was named as hooker in Rugby World magazine’s ‘Team of the Century’.
Sean is now a pundit for Sky Sports and director of ‘Front Row Group’. He is the Chairman and Academy Member of the Laureus Sports Foundation. Sean was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit by the Governor General in 1997 and was inaugurated into the 2011 World Rugby Hall of Fame.

Dr Farah Palmer – Board Member, New Zealand Rugby
Dr Farah Palmer (ONZM) was elected to the New Zealand Rugby Board in December 2016. The former Black Fern (35 Tests, 1996-2006) captained the team to three consecutive Rugby World Cup victories, was inducted to the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2014 and has served on the New Zealand Maori Rugby Board since 2007. Palmer is a senior lecturer in Massey University's School of Management and Director of the University's Maori Business & Leadership Centre (Te Au Rangahau).

Daniel Glantz – Global Head of Sponsorship, AIG
Danny Glantz is the Global Head of Sponsorship for AIG and is responsible for overseeing and managing AIG’s global sponsorship program, including the New Zealand Rugby and USA Rugby relationships. Danny develops and directs AIG sponsorship strategies, while working with all AIG regions to optimize the benefits of these relationships.

Brent Impey – Chairman, New Zealand Rugby
Brent Impey was appointed to the New Zealand Rugby Board in 2012. He has both played and coached rugby and was closely involved in many broadcast and sponsorship issues as Chief Executive of Mediaworks from 1999-2009. He was also involved in the 2011 NZRU review of Investec Super Rugby franchises. He holds a number of directorships, including Yellow Pages Group and Devon Funds Management Limited. He has been Chair and Executive Director of the Fred Hollows Foundation in New Zealand and is a director in both New Zealand and Australia. He operates his own consultancy business with clients including Ports of Auckland and government agencies.
