Big jump in new listings for real estate company

Century 21 New Zealand has experienced a 64% increase in the number of new residential property listings compared to mid-July last year. And compared to mid-June, listings are up a staggering 109% in just one month.

Century 21 National Manager Geoff Barnett says the big jump in listings nationwide shows there are still plenty of Kiwis keen to sell their properties.

“While we experienced the traditional slowdown for the start of winter, we’re now seeing things pick up substantially for July which is quite unusual particularly when the extra homes on our books are mostly standalone properties not a raft of new apartments coming to market for instance.”

Mr Barnett says new listings in Auckland remain strong despite things levelling out after several years of unsustainable price rises. What’s more Century 21’s offices in Waikato, Central North Island, Manawatu and the Kapiti Coast continue to produce solid sales data. Century 21 First Choice Realty in Wellington Central is also performing well.

“Our capital city’s prospects remain strong as they do for New Zealand’s commercial capital. Auckland still has a housing shortage and when combined with its unrelenting population growth, its long-term real estate prospects remain great. Auckland’s just taking a breather for now!”

The real estate boss says the bigger story this year is the ongoing strength of the regions – helped by the economy’s fundamentals remaining strong and interest rates still relatively low.

“The fact that currently one of our top salesperson, Gaile Para, is based in the Waikato town of Te Awamutu reinforces the ongoing regional strength of real estate in 2018.”

He says this winter vendors wanting a successful outcome need to carefully assess an agent’s ability to market a property and negotiate a great sale price.

“That’s where Century 21 New Zealand has an advantage over local competitors. No one can compete with our unbeatable global reach and reputation, international training, and sales systems.

“Our 64% lift in new listings simply reflects our clients’ confidence in us to get the job done,” says Mr Barnett.
