Electric Kiwi Saving Consumers More than $5 Million a Year

23 August 2018

News release

No wonder it’s the Energy Retailer of the Year

New Zealand’s fastest-growing power retailer, Electric Kiwi, has just won another top award, at the same time as it reveals it is now saving consumers more than $5 million a year.

The retailer won the Consumer NZ Energy Retailer of the Year title at the Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards last night (i.e. Wednesday, 22 August). This latest award follows hot on the heels of the company winning a 2018 People’s Choice Award from Consumer NZ. And, last year, it picked up the Canstar Blue Most Satisfied Customers Award for Electricity Providers.

“We’re delighted to be winning these awards,” says CEO Luke Blincoe, “but even more important to us is the experience we’re delivering for our customers. We want to do business the Kiwi way, and we want to save our customers money.”

Since Electric Kiwi signed its first customers in December 2014, it estimates the total savings made by its customers is $8.9M

“Last year we put $5.3 million back into the pockets of hard-working Kiwis. And not only do we offer these great savings, we also make it easy for Kiwis to switch to Electric Kiwi with no break fees or contracts.”

“And, it’s not just savings, we also pride ourselves on being innovators - we created the Hour of Power which gives our customers an hour of free off-peak power every day, and recently we released a great mobile app that lets our customer manage things on the go,” says Blincoe.
