Joint Venture Targets World Cup Success for Kiwi Businesses

Joint Venture Targets World Cup Success for Kiwi Businesses

Atlas Events & Global Stage have partnered to form Leverage NZ, a joint venture to help Kiwi companies target major events to grow their export businesses.

Leverage NZ partner, Richard White, says events like this year’s World Cup create useful opportunities for New Zealand businesses to develop or expand operations in their off-shore markets. “Major events like the Rugby World Cup provide a window of opportunity, and a point of difference, from business as usual in a particular market. This creates a unique opportunity to showcase New Zealand business capability and innovation, and to make key connections in that market.”

White, an ex NZ Trade and Enterprise Trade Commissioner, says Leverage NZ provides a simple end-to-end solution for clients. “The partnership combines Atlas Events’ operational delivery expertise, including tickets and itinerary planning, with Global Stage’s strategic approach to growing export and market connections.

“Atlas Events has been designing and delivering programmes for major corporates and stakeholder organisations for over 25 years, including Summer and Winter Olympics, FIFA tournaments, Rugby World Cups, America’s Cups, motor racing and NFL matches.”

White says planning and preparation is crucial if companies want success. “Kiwi companies need to work hard to build their own networks if they want serious export growth. It is not something that New Zealand businesses are always good at, and is an area that benefits from specialist connections, skill and expertise.

“A focused, strategic approach, and good planning can generally deliver better long term results for export businesses. Leverage NZ is working with clients to provide a structured planning and advisory service, this includes working with New Zealand, and international trade agencies. Our core objective is to grow trade volumes by giving Kiwi companies a competitive advantage and helping them make the best connections for their businesses in specific markets.”

Leverage NZ is currently developing itineraries for a range of events including:
• The 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan
• The 2019 Presidents Cup in 2019, in Melbourne
• The 2020 IPL Cricket tournament in India
• The 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo 2020, in Japan
• The 2021Women’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand
• The 2021 America’s Cup in New Zealand
