Healthscope Selects Unisys to Protect Critical Systems

Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that Australia and New Zealand healthcare provider Healthscope – a new client for Unisys – has awarded the company a three-year contract to provide a package of Unisys security solutions, including a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system and associated services, to protect critical IT systems used to deliver quality healthcare to patients.

Under the engagement, signed in the second quarter of 2018, the SIEM solution, which will include technology from Unisys partner LogRhythm, a leader in security intelligence and analytics, will enable Healthscope to secure its IT environment by quickly and efficiently detecting and neutralising advanced cyber threats before they can disrupt operations and the delivery of healthcare services. A Unisys Security Operations Centre will manage the SIEM system and provide 24/7 detection and response services to Healthscope.

Healthscope is a leading private healthcare provider with 43 hospitals in Australia and market-leading international pathology operations in New Zealand. The company’s more than 18,000 employees provide always-on services in an environment where safety and quality are paramount.

“Protecting patient information and critical medical systems is a top priority for Healthscope,” said Lachlan McGill, Information Security Manager at Healthscope. “Preventing attacks is just one piece of the puzzle. Timely detection and response is critical to minimising the impact on business operations and, most importantly, patient care.”

Healthscope is planning a further roll out to New Zealand this year.

Rick Mayhew, vice president and general manager, Unisys Asia Pacific, said: “It’s really all about minimising the impact and disruption to the organisation, enabling clinicians to focus on the patients’ health and recovery, not worrying about technology or security. Our collective knowledge of healthcare operations as well as legal and compliance requirements, will enable Healthscope to accelerate their objective to provide a secure, care-focused experience for its patients.”
