Crowne Plaza Queenstown warms up for summer with award for Best Ski Hotel
Multi-award winning Crowne Plaza Queenstown has topped off a stellar winter season with news it’s been voted New Zealand’s Best Ski Hotel at the second annual World Ski Awards in Kitzbühel last Saturday November 22.
Launched last year to celebrate exceptional success in the ski tourism industry, the World Ski Awards is the sister organisation of the World Travel Awards, widely heralded as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’.
Throughout the year a record number of votes were cast by leading ski tourism professionals worldwide as well as hundreds of thousands of ski consumers from 127 countries.
Crowne Plaza Queenstown general manager Reinier Eulink said he and the “hard working team were honoured to be recognised by tourism industry peers and guests”.
“We’re proud of our unrivalled central location, superb views and the exceptional and consistent level of service we offer our guests year round and especially during the popular ski season,” he said.
“We constantly strive to ensure each guest’s stay is as relaxed and comfortable as it can be and our experienced, friendly and dedicated team always go that extra mile,” said Mr Eulink.
Widely known as Queenstown’s chic, friendly and cosmopolitan downtown hotel and the perfect ski base, Crowne Plaza Queenstown is at the centre of it all, enjoying the best in-town location overlooking stunning Lake Wakatipu and the spectacular Remarkables Mountain range.
“With up-to-the-minute snow reports, ski pass sales, exclusive accommodation and ski pass packages, in-hotel ski rental service, hotel gymnasium, in-room massage service, and door-to-door bus service direct to the slopes, we’re the perfect winter home-away-from-home.”
“Imagine tearing up the slopes day after day then heading back to enjoy our famous après ski hospitality before retiring to your room to get ready for the night ahead,” said Mr Eulink.
“Sample one of our signature cocktails in our city-style Martini Bar. Alternatively kick off your ski boots and relax and unwind with a glass of Central Otago wine, our signature white mulled-wine or craft beer in our threesixty restaurant, bar and lounge areas.”
“We’re also on the doorstep of Queenstown’s award-winning bars, restaurants and array of shops, so there’s plenty to do should guests wish to venture out. Our staff are experts in their field so they are on-hand to advise on the latest hot spots, best skiing and other activities in the region.”
“The award simply cements our position as Queenstown’s best ski hotel and is testament to the hard work of the entire team,” he said.
The awards were announced at a glittering red carpet World Ski Awards Ceremony, held as part of a three day programme of exclusive networking events and parties, VIP skiing on the world famous Hahnenkamm, sight-seeing tours and luxury chauffeur driven transfers.
“Queenstown has flourished and grown into a world-class ski resort and with increased air capacity and expansion of ski tourism and the region as a whole, Crowne Plaza Queenstown is well-placed to provide the ultimate ski experience,” said Mr Eulink.
“Summer may be upon us but we have one foot in next winter already and we’re excited about what lies ahead,” he said.
As Queenstown prepares for the influx of summer tourists the hotel has launched new summer packages and unveiled its fresh summer dining menu.
Created to encourage people to celebrate those special moments in life, Crowne Plaza Queenstown has launched Unforgettable Moments and Special Moments.
Unforgettable Moments includes two nights’ accommodation, buffet breakfast daily for two and a ride on KJet Jet Boat ride for two people. Special Moments includes accommodation, $40 in-house restaurant credit and a late check-out of 1pm.
Threesixty’s light and fresh menu features a blend of local summer produce with Indonesian flavours, in keeping with chef’s heritage and style.
Highlights include the Canter Valley duck tortellini served on a saffron and tomato consommé to start, Balinese platter –with braised duck, yellow rice, sate lilit, lemongrass salsa, and bamboo shoots roll for main and lavender crème brûlée for dessert.
