Transpower Appoints Greg Smith As Chief Financial Officer
Transpower today announced the appointment of Greg Smith as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Greg was Assistant Governor and General Manager of Finance and Commercial Operations at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand until May this year. His extensive career in finance includes time as CFO of Steel & Tube Holdings, CFO at Wellington Electricity, Group Financial Controller of Opus International and Senior Audit Manager at KPMG in New Zealand, the UK and the USA.
Chief Executive James Kilty said “I’m pleased to appoint someone of Greg’s calibre, with strong commercial and financial experience across a range of private, government and regulated businesses, including in the electricity sector. Greg brings a proven track record of strategic insight and delivering strong commercial results. We look forward to him joining our executive leadership team.”
Greg takes up his new role on 9 February 2026.
