Inaugural Awards For Environmentally Acceptable Packaging

On the 23 June 1999 the PACKAGING COUNCIL OF NEW ZEALAND (Inc) hosted, at the Maritime Museum Downtown Auckland, the presentation of Awards to those organisations and individuals who had submitted packaging judged as meeting criteria established to define ENVIRONMENTALLY ACCEPTABLE PACKAGING. The Associate Minister for the Environment, the Hon. Marie Hasler and the sponsors presented the Awards.

The AIM of the programme was to recognise and reward manufacturers and users of packaging deemed to be environmentally acceptable while meeting the prime objectives of containment and protection for which the packaging was designed.

Also included in the programme were innovative design concepts related to packages of the future. In all, nine awards were presented covering eight categories including the SUPREME AWARD for the entry considered by the Judges to be the most outstanding.
