Telecom Has Latest Pay Phone Technology For APEC

Delegates and media at APEC are the first to use the latest in Telecom
payphone technology offering modem access.

The new indoor payphones have been installed at APEC venues in Auckland
for this week's gathering.

Delegates and media at APEC are also receiving Telecom TalkAway cards to
be used on the new payphones, or any other touch phone.

After APEC, the new modem access payphones will start to be installed
throughout the country. Most of the locations will be in airport lounges
such as Ansett Golden Wing and Air New Zealand Koru lounges.

Customers wanting to use the modem port access will need their own laptop
with a built in modem. To enable Email or internet access, customers will
simply need to connect their PC to the socket on the right hand side of
the payphone.

The 500 modem access payphones are part of a rollout of 6500 new Telecom
payphones around the country, due to be completed within the next six
weeks.
