NEW ZEALAND POST OFFERS EASY WAY TO SEND MONEY IN ZEALAND

New Zealand Post Money Orders are an easy way to send money to friends and family as a gift or send payments through the post and are available at New Zealand Post Postal outlets from today.

"There are two types of Money Orders, the Money Order Certificate and the Electronic Money Order. Customers can simply go into any New Zealand Post Postal outlet, fill out an application form and purchase a New Zealand Post Money Order up to the value of $1000," says James Grassick, New Zealand Post Agency Services Business Manager.

Once purchased, customers will be handed back a completed Money Order Certificate or an Electronic Money Order number and a receipt. A $3 transaction fee applies for each Money Order Certificate and a $5 fee for each Electronic Money Order. New Zealand Post Money Orders can be redeemed at any New Zealand Post Postal outlet at no additional charge.

Subject to the terms of issue, the Money Order can be redeemed in cash, used to buy any products or services from the New Zealand Post Postal outlet, pay bills or be deposited into a named bank account, at no extra charge.

Electronic Money Orders use a PIN number instead of a certificate and have encryption software applied to the PIN number.

"Electronic Money Orders mean customers can send up to $1000 electronically and immediately, which is especially useful in an emergency. For example, if a family member away from home needs money in a hurry, you select a PIN number, tell them the Money Order number and the PIN you have chosen and the money is available instantaneously from any New Zealand Post Postal outlet," says Mr Grassick.

The Money Order is issued in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the Money Order brochure available at any New Zealand Post Postal outlet. Money Orders are offered by New Zealand Post under a registered prospectus dated 15 September 1999. A copy of the prospectus is available from New Zealand Post's registered office at level 12, 7-27 Waterloo Quay, Wellington, free of charge.

The Money Orders are unsecured obligations of New Zealand Post Limited.
