Cruise To The Melbourne Cup Aboard Norwegian Star

Racing enthusiasts looking for a unique way to enjoy Australia's biggest racing event - The Melbourne Cup - can now cruise from Sydney to Melbourne.

Travelling aboard Norwegian Star, 1999 Cruise Operator Of The Year* and Australia's only 4-Star cruise liner, guests will dock at Port Melbourne for three days to ensure they enjoy all the pre- and post-race day festivities.

Complimentary entrance tickets to the Cup and transfers from the ship to Flemington racecourse are included in the cruise fare. "The Melbourne Cup Cruise provides a wonderful opportunity for New Zealand race goers to extend the enjoyment of the Cup's carnival atmosphere", said Mrs Sarina Bratton, Managing Director of Norwegian Capricorn Line.

"During the ship's three day visit to Melbourne, our interstate and international guests will have plenty of opportunity to fully explore the delights of one of Australia's finest cities and its surrounds," said Mrs Bratton.

Melbourne's City Sights, a scenic Yarra River Cruise and historic Sovereign Hill in Ballarat are just some of the shore tour options. Nature lovers can also visit a unique penguin colony at Phillip Island or take a spectacular journey along the Great Ocean Road.

Since Norwegian Star's arrival in December last year, the ship has sailed 30 different itineraries and accepted bookings from more than 30,000 passengers, many of whom have made repeat bookings.

While the service and amenities are 4-Star, Norwegian Capricorn Line cruises offer value-for-money. The fares, based on twin-share accommodation, include all gratuities for cabin and dining room staff as well as meals, entertainment and use of the ship's facilities.
