Good Human Resource Practices To Get Recognition
The regional finalists for the inaugural Human Resources Institute of New Zealand (HRINZ) national awards have been announced. The winners are: Auckland/Waikato: Montana Wines, PriceWaterhouse Coopers; Taranaki: Kiwi Co-operative Dairies Ltd, Tegel Foods Ltd New Plymouth; Wellington: Te Papa Tongarewa, Saturn Communications Ltd; Canterbury: Crown Public Health Ltd, Macpac Wilderness Equipment Ltd.
These organisations have been identified as having people management initiatives, techniques and outcomes that have achieved outstanding results for both businesses and their staff.
In total, 22 organisations submitted entries for the awards. The regional award winners of each category are being assessed by an independent national judging panel to decide the national award winner for each category. The two national winners will be announced at a function at the Grand Hall of Parliament Buildings on Thursday 2 December 1999.
The two categories of awards at regional and national level are: Category 1. Strategy Development and Organisational Support; and Category 2. Influence and Change (includes leadership and innovation)
“Our aim as an organisation is to raise the profile of good people management practices. By recognising these practices in a real business environment we can all learn and perhaps emulate these successes”, said Glenn Harris, National President of HRINZ.
The awards have attracted full sponsorship from business software maker SAP. SAP is the international Human Resources and Payroll software market leader, with more than 6,000 HR and Payroll sites world-wide.
SAP’s New Zealand HR Product Manager Linda Sollitt says she was impressed with both the quality and the volume of entries.
