Southland Province Integrates With Fed Farmers

Southland Province Integrates With Federated Farmers National Organisation

Southland Federated Farmers yesterday decided at an Extraordinary General Meeting to fully integrate with Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc)'s national structure.

Vice President Tom Lambie and Southland President Peter Phiske jointly announced the decision.

"The decision is good for both parties. Federated Farmers of New Zealand will gain from having the extra support from the Southland Province, and Southland members will gain from the access to the wider range of services that full membership of the federation brings," said Mr Phiske.

"Farmers across New Zealand will gain from having Federated Farmers as a more united force working on their behalf," said Mr Lambie.

The decision will take effect from 1 January 2000. Southland members will then be able to contact any Federated Farmers staff member for advice and assistance.

Southland Province has funded its own staff and administration since the inception of the national organisation.
