'Industry': Nick Gaffaney Solo Concert

Debut solo performance by Nick Gaffaney

Thursday 8th February 8:30pm Odeon lounge cnr Mt Eden Rd & Symonds Street $5

Percussionist Nick Gaffaney is well know to those in the New Zealand music industry for his work which crosses all boundaries of style and form.

While being based in Auckland Nick has Performed and recorded with Jan Hellriegal, Godfrey de Gru, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Wellington Improvising Saxophonist Jeff Henderson and the Pacific beats collective, Nuvonesia.He is also featured on the latest releases by Hip Hop artist King Kapisi and Electronic dub heads Pitch Black. During this time Nick founded the Pure & Unified Clubnites at the Khuja Lounge which featured both Drum n Bass DJ Nick D and House DJ Chris Cox. Last year also saw recordings in London with German Drum n Bass Producers Megashira, and performances in Vancouver with Free Jazz clarinetist François Houle.

This concert will showcase a new direction in Nicks music making, he will step out from behind the drums to perform in a solo setting as a Vocalist, Body Percussionist, Programmer and Sonic Manipulator. 'Industry' will see Nick working with a largely Electronic base to create Ambient Soundscapes and Industrial beats layered over Spoken Word messages and Songs. This will capture a moment of music making rare in this city. The performance is also to be recorded for future release.

This will be the last chance to hear Nick perform in New Zealand before he departs to take up a teaching position in India, don't miss this opportunity to witness one of New Zealand's finest musicians in such an intimate setting.
