Triangle Television offers language resource to German students and teachers

Triangle Television is screening a German language course hailed an invaluable learning tool for beginner students.

Called 'Redaktion-D' and produced by Deutsche Welle, the 15-minute programme screens on Triangle every Wednesday at 6pm.

The highly-regarded series has been endorsed by Judith Geare, Head of the Language Department at the Goethe-Institut in Wellington. Ms Geare describes it an excellent resource for German language teachers and students and says the programme provides students with an outstanding opportunity to experience the language as it is spoken.

She says: "The varied and interesting format of the programmes and the fact that they are just 15 minutes in duration ensures that the content is readily assimilated by youngsters learning German."

Ms Geare says the series is also valuable for more advanced students and she is currently using it as a resource for level three language students at the Goethe-Institut.

There are 13 programmes in the Redaktion-D series. Each features a five-minute film and a documentary with subtitles. New topics are introduced each week and there is also repetition of topics taught in earlier programmes to reinforce learning. As the series progress, the presenter works through the course book. The last programme in the series repeats previous information and invites viewers to participate in a quiz.
