New Zealanders Salute Mr Invincible

Tickets are selling fast for Mr Invincible The Tribute Dinner for John Walker, Variety - The Children`s Charity and Parkinsonism Society Auckland Inc. Friends, athletes and fans will come together to honour Walker at this black tie fundraising dinner to be held on 3 April at 7pm at the Sheraton Auckland Hotel and Towers.

Sporting legends Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett are coming to New Zealand to speak and other special guests at the dinner will include former Prime Minister, The Rt Hon. Jim Bolger, Mayor John Banks, Rod Dixon, Sir Murray Halberg, and fellow sporting figures Ian Ferguson, Arch Jelley, Andy Haden, Waka Nathan, Fred Allen, Dick Tayler, Colin Meads, Alison Roe and Dick Quax . MC for the dinner is Tv`s Tony Veitch, and Elizabeth Walker, and her band will provide the entertainment.

Fundraising on the night will feature an auction of memorabilia including:

A holiday to London and Tea at the House of Lords with Sebastian Coe

An original 1976 Montreal Olympic Torch signed by John Walker

Pele signed soccer ball and David Beckham signed England Jersey

An original 1975 World Record Plaque awarded to John Walker in recognition of his Mile World Record

A US presidential seal with signatures and photographs of Bill Clinton, Ronal Reagan and George Bush Snr.

Rolling Stones autographed guitar

1949 New Zealand signed Cricket Bat.

New Zealanders keen to salute Mr Invincible can purchase tickets to the dinner by calling Toni Durant on (09) 376 9247. Tickets cost $250 per person, $2,500 table of 10, or $2,500 for a celebrity table (9 seats and a celebrity).
