Kendall Secures Silver Medal & Olympic Nomination

ISAF World Championships

Bay of Cadiz, Spain

Barbara Kendall will be presented with the silver medal at the ISAF World Championships Awards Ceremony, after maintaining her position leading into the final race of the Championships. Racing was delayed on day ten of the Regatta due to the light variable conditions with a "poniente" wind, replacing the "levante" which was associated with the heavier conditions of earlier races. The final race finally got underway in a light 6 knot breeze and Kendall finished in 27th position, which saw her one point behind the winner, Lee Korsitz of Israel and a clear seven points ahead of French competitor, Faustine Merret.

A top five finish means that Kendall is now eligible for Olympic nomination, she will take up the spot she secured for New Zealand at the 2002 World Championships when she Murdoch
