MEDIA RELEASE
22 January 2004

Golden sounds from Goldenhorse at Auckland Zoo!

As the golden weather continues, so too does Auckland Zoo’s ASB Bank ZooMusic Series, which on Thursday evening, 29 January, brings you the great sounds of Goldenhorse.

Leading this award winning ‘horse’ to the stage (Band Rotunda) from 5.30pm will be ‘The Believers’ followed by main support act, three-piece band ‘Gasoline Cowboy’, with their melodic folk and rock tunes.

Winners of the 2003 Silver Scroll and bNet Awards, Goldenhorse are a five-piece band fronted by lead vocalist Kirsten Morrelle with a heap of talent, and wide audience appeal. Their hit singles have included ‘Golden Dawn’ and ‘Maybe Tomorrow’.

“This concert’s for everyone – from young lovers, to mums, dads, kids and anyone who considers themselves young at heart and appreciates hot kiwi talent,” says Jackie Sanders, Auckland Zoo Events Co-ordinator.

So get along to Auckland Zoo with your friends (and a picnic) on Thursday evening, 29 January, for a great summer evening’s entertainment.

Normal admission prices apply. Adults $13, Students $10 and Children 4 years and over $7. Friends of the zoo members receive a 20 per cent discount on entry after 4.15pm.

Darwin’s café, which is licensed, and has a great selection of food, fully caters for both adults and children, and will be open, along with the zoo’s Wild Zone Gift Shop. The zoo will close at 9pm.
