New Zealand Super 12 Teams Cook Up A Storm

New Zealand Super 12 Teams Cook Up A Storm For Ford Bbq Winners

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Wednesday 19 May

Ford New Zealand's recent 'super sizzling' competition was a real hot potato of a promotion – almost 5000 names of people who purchased or leased a new Falcon or Courier or who had their vehicle serviced at a Ford dealership in March or April were entered into a draw to have players from their local Super 12 team deliver them a new BBQ.

But the bonus point – and one which appealed to loyal Ford and Super 12 fans – was that the players stayed and cooked a meal for the lucky winner on their new BBQ.

"Having seen some of the culinary skills on display, I can safely say I'm happy some of the guys play rugby better than they cook!" said Ford's Corporate Sponsorship Manager, Sarah Henderson.

"However, the fun and laughter at each of the five BBQ's more than compensated for how any of the steaks ended up looking," she added.

While no on-field secrets were divulged by the players at any of the barbeques, some of the prize winners had definite opinions about the performance of New Zealand teams in the Super 12.

There was high praise for the Chiefs and their semi-final appearance, while all thought the Crusaders were worthy finalists.

"Regardless of where their team finished, each of the five winners thoroughly enjoyed their Ford Super 12 experience," said Ms. Henderson.

"It has been a unique opportunity to have the players spend an evening at each of the prize winner's homes and share a meal with them on their new BBQ. For the winners, it is a great way for them to remember the 2004 season – which was the ninth year that Ford has been involved in the Super 12."
