NZ Music Industry Commission wins at MMF Awards

New Zealand Music Industry Commission wins at MMF Awards

The NZMIC was honoured to receive the Inaugural Industry Champion award at Saturday’s Music Managers’ Forum 2004 Music Management Awards. The Industry Champion award is intended to recognise the support of other organisations which have assisted the MMF in the past year. Mark Roach, Chairperson of the MMF, said “without the NZ Music Industry Commission’s assistance, the MMF would never have got off the ground in this country.”

The NZ branch of the MMF was established in mid 2003 for music managers, self-managed artists, and anyone with an interest in becoming a manager. The MMF ultimately seeks to improve managers’ capacity to support the careers of the artists they represent.

“The MMF has quickly grown to be an important organisation for not only the managers, but for all of the NZ Music Industry,” says NZMIC CEO Cath Andersen. “I attended the MMF seminars this past weekend, and the calibre of delegates from throughout NZ provided a great example of the success of the MMF’s ongoing efforts to foster the development of NZ music managers.”

The NZMIC would like to congratulate the other winners at the Music Management Awards, particularly NZMIC Trustee Teresa Patterson (who represents Scribe, The Have, Carly Binding, and Blindspott) co-winner of Best Manager alongside Michael Keating (Goldenhorse, Ben King, Geoffretta).

Other award recipients were Paul Russell (Eight) for Best Self-Managed Artist and Campbell Smith (Bic Runga, Brooke Fraser, Shihad) for Outstanding Achievement in Music Management.
