New Zealanders take pride in being able to laugh at themselves.....and protect their sheep from sheep stealers such as the legendary James Mackenzie…..
One of New Zealand’s top improvisational comedians, Patrick Duffy and Christchurch's top improvisational company, The Court Jesters, are planning to present a historically dubious and completely entertaining family comedy show, based on the life and times of James Mackenzie .... New Zealand’s most celebrated sheep stealer.
History has never been so creatively handled until these fools of the facts have taken some of the truth of the Mackenzie legend and lent their own creative and comedic bent. You'll get to laugh and learn at the same time.... now that's entertainment!
It may not be completely historically accurate, it may not be totally factually true. But as these masters of improvisation take suggestions and ideas direct from the audience, and mix in a little of the Mackenzie Magic it WILL be a hilarious and a fun filled family night of comedy and mirth…. guaranteed. Conceived and hosted by the Mackenzie Heritage Centre with major sponsorship by the Lake Tekapo Art Group, James Mackenzie and friends will return to Lake Tekapo on January 8th, Twizel on Jan 22nd and Fairlie on February 6th. The Return of James Mackenzie is the highlight of the second Inspiring Summer Series produced by the Mackenzie Heritage Centre. Following on the success of last years series, the 2005 series features the Court Jesters, singer song-writer Phil Garland, well known author Phillip Holden and several other inspiring speakers.
The Mackenzie Heritage Centre is a proposed $16.5 million dollar interactive experience revolving around seven compelling stories from the Mackenzie Country. The Heritage Centre will feature state of the art interpretive experiences that tell the stories of the place, the people, and the passion behind an area that 1.4 million visitors pass through every year.
