Ya! The Muka Youth Print Exhibition Is Back

Ya! The Muka Youth Print Exhibition Is Back

when: THIS WEEKEND Saturday & Sunday - November 27 & 28 [12pm - 5pm]

where: THE DOWSE, 45 LAINGS RD, LOWER HUTT

what: For the young with a heart for art Don't miss this special opportunity for children to learn to enjoy and buy art on their own. Well-known New Zealand and overseas artists have produced sets of small original lithographs to be sold exclusively to young people aged 5 -18 yrs. This is a hugely popular exhibition and always a lot of fun, so bring along your children, grandchildren, nieces & nephews and friends (these prints make great Christmas presents!)

All the art works are priced at $55 and the artists' names and signatures are covered during the show... so that children can choose the work they like and are not simply looking for names their parents might mention to them. No adults allowed!

Muka History: The Muka Youth Prints exhibition was set up in 1988 by Frans Baetens and Magda Vangils. Each year they select about 25 artworks by New Zealand and international print makers.

"The main idea of the exhibition is that it is a way of familiarising young people with contemporary art and making it a part of their lives. It's fun for kids too because they love buying something without their parents having any input", says Frans. "It's a chance for kids to put their art appreciation skills into practice."

The Dowse is delighted to welcome the Muka Youth Print Exhibition back to Lower Hutt for the 3rd year running.
