Hamish Carter Invites Kiwi Kids To Sign Up For 13th Annual Weet-Bix Tryathlon

2005 Event Series Dates & Locations Announced

Registration is now open for the 13th, annual Weet-Bix Tryathlon. This year, Hamish Carter has joined the Weet-Bix Tryathlon team as its official Ambassador.

This year, the Weet-Bix Tryathlon, will make its first-ever visit to Hamilton. The event series will visit seven cities, kicking off on February 13th in Tauranga and wrapping in Wellington on April 3.

Over the course of the Weet-Bix Tryathlon, an anticipated 18,000 kids will participate, cheered on by thousands more family and friends on the sidelines!

Registration is now open for kids between 8 and 15 of any fitness level or ability. Participants can register online at http://www.weet-bix.co.nz. Registration information is also available on Weet-Bix packets, in-store now. All participants receive a Weet-Bix Tryathlon T-shirt, medal and certificate signed by Hamish Carter.

Registration is capped for safety reasons, so kids are urged to register quickly to save their place in the popular event.

"The Weet-Bix Tryathlon has become an annual highlight on the calendar of thousands of New Zealand youngsters. We encourage all kids to register early to ensure they can join in the fun in their city in 2005," explains Weet-Bix Brand Manager, Rob Bowring.

Weet-Bix Tryathlon Ambassador, Hamish Carter, explains why he thinks the event has such wide appeal.

"The philosophy of the Weet-Bix Tryathlon is exactly what we need to reinforce to our kids," says Carter.

"It's about setting goals, working hard, trying new things and, most importantly, getting active and having fun. Some kids will enjoy being outside participating in a group activity, and others might really enjoy their first taste of competition. The Weet-Bix Tryathlon offers something for every child, regardless of their individual goals, interests and abilities."

Sanitarium manages and funds the Weet-Bix Tryathlon, which is aimed at improving the health and well being of New Zealand children. The aim is to promote the importance of regular exercise, coupled with a nutritious balanced diet. Sanitarium works in partnership with platinum sponsors SPARC, Tip Top Up Bread, Meadow Fresh and Calci Kids to present the Weet-Bix Tryathlon series.
