The Living Room is back!

Successful award winning arts show returns in November

After two successful series, New Zealand’s fresh innovative award winning arts TV show The Living Room is back for it’s third series. This time in an earlier timeslot! It goes to air on Sunday 13th November, 10.30pm, on TV3.

The Living Room showcases inspirational and creative ‘homegrown’ New Zealand artists living here and overseas.

First aired in 2002, The Living Room received rave reviews from critics

Mark Albiston, creator of the Living Room, comments:

“We aim to make each Living Room series slightly better than the last. In series three we got more creative and had more fun with the talent we chose to host each show.

For instance, in episode six the cast and crew from 'Wooleyman' - (a cult lo-fi' action spoof from Wanaka) - were cut up and blown to smithereens by a spider puppet. In episode five director Ed Davis fronts the show from his virtual 3D world created for his award winning music videos.

In episode one controversial artist Wayne Youle straps a generator to his back and takes his living room chair to dark alleyways and inner city parks to project his artwork on to the surfaces of inner city Christchurch.

The artists are so much fun to hang out with and film. We found them extremely generous with their time and ideas. Generally our crew works with the featured artists to 'create' each piece so when we cut something together it has ideas from both the artists and directors within it.

The creative talent is endless in New Zealand and so far we've only tapped into a couple of veins but we've still got the rest of the body to explore. I hope people have as much fun watching it as we've all had making it!”
