About us Thistle Hall community venue is an inner city facility with a unique character and history that provides a focal point for community activities. It is a vibrant and busy centre offering a variety of interests to both its local and wider Wellington community.

Thistle Hall is a non-profit community centre, providing accessible services, space and opportunities for social, recreational, cultural, creative, and educational development.

Thistle Hall is governed by a volunteer board of trustees and supported by the Wellington City Council.

Waitaha Kapa Haka: Waitaha-South Island Kapa Haka Celebrates 60th Anniversary

With its geographical reach spanning most of the South Island, the event, held at the Wolfbrook Arena in Christchurch, is geographically the biggest of the 12 kapa haka regions in New Zealand, and will showcase the best Māori cultural performances in the South Island. This year, the competition has the participation of 13 kapa haka teams, equalling the highest number in the event's history.
