Applications From New Zealand Writers

Applications From New Zealand Writers The Rathcoola Residency, Cork, Ireland

Applications are sought from published New Zealand writers to spend six months in the countryside near Cork, Ireland, from July 2007.

The prestigious Rathcoola Residency provides self-contained accommodation, a stipend equivalent of $A20,000 and return airfare.

Over the last two years the Residency has been awarded to two outstanding New Zealand artists, Denis O’Connor, a sculptor and installation artist from Waiheke, and writer, Fiona Farrell from Akaroa, both of whom give high praise to the opportunity of working full-time on specific projects for an uninterrupted period outside New Zealand.

“A generous Residency such as this allowed time, space and inspiration for my writing,” said Ms Farrell.

The 2007 Rathcoola Residency, established by expatriate New Zealander Robyn Carrig, will be open to New Zealand writers with an existing record of achievement. Applications close 30 November 2006.

Further details about the Rathcoola Residency can be found at www.rathcoola.info
