Country festival flights in hot demand

Kiwis do fly when it comes to country music. And we love the popular music genre so much, seats on flights to next year’s Norfolk Island Country Music Festival are in hot demand.

But no-one should miss out thanks to Air New Zealand – our national carrier is adding an extra flight via Norfolk Island to cope with bookings for the seven day festival.

Air New Zealand’s scheduled Noumea flight from Auckland on May 26 will stop off at Norfolk Island to unload country music fans. A week later on June 02 the Boeing 737-300 will pick up fans for the return flight to New Zealand.

Norfolk Island Tourism general manager Steve McInnes says the festival has always had huge support from lovers of country music in New Zealand.

“Next year is the 14th year of the festival and again it doubles as the Trans-Tasman Entertainer of the Year Awards so there’s some good Aussie-Kiwi rivalry involved.

“New Zealanders have always been in the thick of it at the festival so we’re grateful to Air New Zealand for the extra seats to next year’s event.”

The Norfolk Island Country Music Festival runs from May 27 to June 3, 2007.
