A family day out - Cheap as Chips 2007

Great way to spend a family day out - Cheap as Chips 2007

Cheap as Chips 2007 is even better this year as it coincides with this year's national Children¹s Day (now officially the first Sunday of March each year).

Children¹s Day has been established to encourage a special day of family activity - a day which doesn¹t revolve around giving gifts or spending lots of money. This philosophy sits perfectly with the motto behind Cheap as Chips to present the best of New Zealand music at the lowest possible price.

There is only one week left until the giant outdoor event on Sunday 4 March which is shaping up to be a day of fantastic music and fun in the sun. This year¹s line-up is a stunner - Fat Freddy¹s Drop, Shapeshifter, Kora and friends who will entertain young and old alike.

Cheap as Chips organiser and Fabel Music Co-Director Karyn South says the environment will be child-friendly and alcohol free. ³Kids under twelve are $10, and those under five are free, so it¹s a great chance for music lovers to enjoy a day in the sunshine with their kids. It¹s a cheap day out as adult tickets are a mere $25.²

The University of Canterbury Athletic Oval will be well set-up to cater to the crowd with a number of city bus lines running directly to the event. Parking will also be available.

Free sunscreen will be on hand to make sure everyone has appropriate sun protection. A special toileting area for parents with children will be available, and, like last year¹s event, there will also be a huge selection of food on site.

Fat Freddy¹s Drop will be playing Christchurch for the first time in a year while Shapeshifter, the Garden City¹s hottest export will be flying in from a phenomenal Australian tour. Also performing at this year¹s event are Kora - the Kiwi roots-reggae-rock group whose music is irresistible. The main acts will be supported by a collection of RDU show hosts to complete the day of entertainment.

Tickets are available from outlets around Christchurch (including Cosmic Corner, Hunters and Collectors, Galaxy Records, Cheapskates, Dux de Lux, University of Canterbury Students Association and more). See www.fabel.co.nz for further information.
