National Triathlon Series hits TV this Weekend
Triathletes from around the country are set to hit television screens this Sunday as part of a four-part series covering the inaugural Contact Energy National Triathlon Series.
The first instalment airs this Sunday [18 March] at 4pm on TV2.
Produced by Vince Gooding of Sportmedia-NZ, the series will include coverage of all nine Contact Energy National Series events, featuring both the Tri My Sport participation races and the Contact Energy New Zealand Cup races.
Triathlon New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Dave Beeche said the series is set to include interviews with top athletes including Hamish Carter and Debbie Tanner, and will profile some of the rising stars of New Zealand triathlon.
“The television series will also feature segments on all three disciplines of triathlon – swimming, cycling and running, including detail on technique, equipment, nutrition and training for a race,” Dave said.
“It’s a great way for people wanting to get into the sport to see what’s involved and get started on a training schedule.”
The Contact Energy National Series has so far visited seven locations around the country – New Plymouth, Auckland, Nelson, Christchurch, Rotorua, Kinloch and Napier, with more than 1500 people of varying abilities competing. The eighth event takes place in Whangamata this weekend, and the series concludes in Wellington on 31 March.
Watch out for the My Sport series commentated by John McBeth on Sundays at 4pm on TV2.
