Local design company wins at prestigious Festival

Local design company wins at prestigious South By Southwest Festival in Texas

Wellington design company Resn has taken out an interactive award at the prestigious South By Southwest 10th Annual Web Awards in Austin, Texas yesterday (Sunday 11 March GMT).

Nominated for two awards across two categories, Resn won the Business for Profit category with their portfolio website, RESN 2b2 (www.resn.co.nz ) and were one of the top 5 finalist in the Music category with The Black Seeds (www.theblackseeds.com ). Both websites were up against a strong field of top international entries. Resn are the only Interactive Design Studio representing New Zealand at the SXSW web awards.

Followed by the SXSW film and music festivals, the 10th Annual SXSW Web Awards honor the incredibly creative innovators who have designed the best new sites on the Internet. The SXSW Web Awards uncover those who are building and implementing tomorrow's online trends.

Hundreds of innovative web designers from across the globe submitted websites in this year's competition. All entries have been launched or completely redesigned in 2006.

Attracting digital creatives as well as visionary technology entrepreneurs, the SXSW

Interactive Festival enables you to connect, discover and inspire your link to the cutting edge. This year's event is emceed by popular video blogger Ze Frank, host of "The Show".

Resn company director Steve Le Marquand, who is currently in Austin to receive the award says, "It's quite exciting seeing creative New Zealand interactive design getting recognised amongst the worlds finest. The aim of our music sites is to get global exposure for our musicians. The more people being exposed to the New Zealand sound through creative online experiences have got to be good for local music".

"Festivals like SXSW give us an opportunity to catapult our client's products, services and experiences to the ever more important global audience. They also allow us to connect to potential international clients in the aim of bringing offshore dollars into New Zealand".
