Inspired by the pioneering feats of Sir Edmund Hillary and Jon Hamilton forty years ago, this story retraces the first ascent by jetboat of one of Nepal’s greatest rivers the Sun Kosi.

World Jet Boat Expeditions, under the guidance of Ashburton’s Duncan Storrier, not only successfully retraced this adventure over 272 kilometres and 150 white water rapids of the Sun Kosi, but went on to boat all five major rivers systems in Nepal, Bhutan and India flowing off the Himalayan Mountains.

Ultimate Ascents – The Hamilton Jet Himalayan Expedition documents a three week journey over Christmas and New Year which began in one of the most isolated and beautiful kingdoms in the world, Bhutan, before navigating 1500 kms on 21 rivers rarely, if ever, jet boated in Bhutan, Nepal and India.

Along the way we encounter a myriad of cultural and religious experiences from riverside cremations, to one of the oldest Hindu Temples on earth. We boated the Duhd Kosi, whose waters flow directly off Mt Everest and witnessed the prayers at the most significant confluence in Nepal, the Karli Gandarki.
