Vodafone Surf Sessions 2008

Vodafone Surf Sessions 2008

Vodafone Surf Sessions returns in 2008 with a free full day festival of surf and music at the spiritual home of Kiwi surf, Raglan! And for the first time, Vodafone takes world class surfers to the South Island to showcase their skills.

As in previous years, four of the top international surfers will visit New Zealand to compete with our best. Moving away from Piha for the first time, the main event will be staged on 9 February at Manu Bay in Raglan, home of New Zealand’s famous left hand point break. The competition will be run using ‘The Game’ format, similar to the Surfing X-Games and will feature a New Zealand qualifying round on the morning of the event to fill one of the four New Zealand surfing slots.

And in true summer festival style, Vodafone has lined up some of New Zealand’s hottest music acts to entertain the crowds between sets.

2008 will also see the international surfers head south for the first time, wowing fans in Dunedin with an expression session on Waitangi Day, 6 February.

Stay tuned to find out which surfers and bands are coming your way. Previous international surfers to attend Vodafone Surf Sessions have included Sunny Garcia, Andy & Bruce Irons and Mark Occhilupo. Fans can expect the same calibre of world class surf talent in 2008 along with the added bonus of a fantastic music line up.

You can keep up to date for free with all the haps in the lead up to the event as well as receiving event results if you have a Vodafone mobile. Simply free TXT ‘SURF’ to 787 to subscribe to this free TXT alert service.
