2nd Annual Kahungunu AGM Pa Sports Day

What Is The Event ?


Ngati Kahungunu Iwi second Annual General Meeting, combined with a marae based family social sports day When and Where Is This Taking Place 9am to 3.00pm Saturday 24 November 2007 at New Zealand’s leading water theme park, Splash Planet, Sylvan Road, Hastings

Why Is This Event Happening?

The intention is to attract people to attend the tribe’s AGM. Last year in 2006, over 1500 participants aged from 1 year to 85 years turned up. From this success the programme was aligned to the iwi tribal objective to build a strong, vibrant, healthy whanau and hapu by;

1. Creating a fun, memorable and safe environment for family to play together and to promote healthy life style practises.

2. Engaging Ngati Kahungunu in a way that builds marae connectivity. Who Is Organising This Event and Who Is It for ? Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporation is the organiser and the event is for Kahungunu tribal members of all ages throughout Hawke’s Bay and New Zealand. Who is coming?

There are 1,000 registered players competing in netball, touch, kiwi sports, beach volleyball, euchre, Maori board games, putt putt golf, tug of war and trivia walk (matauranga hikoi). The Annual Kahungunu Sport Awards will follow in the evening. Over three hundred people will fill the Assembly Hall to see the Iwi alongside Sport Hawke’s Bay, acknowledge top Kahungunu sports people. This event sold out in 10 days.
