More Mean Sports Stars on Maori Television’s Code!

World champion rowers Mahe Drysdale and Storm Uru join rugby league sensation Brent Tate as special studio guests at the live-to-air broadcast of Maori Television’s award-winning sports entertainment show HYUNDAI CODE this Thursday March 13 at 8.30 PM (repeats Sunday March 16 at 4.00 PM).

Three-time world champion Drysdale has secured his spot in the Olympic team of 12 to represent New Zealand in rowing at Beijing in August – after a dramatic showdown with Rob Waddell at Lake Karapiro – and will compete in the men’s single sculls. Uru (Ngai Tahu), who won the Albie Pryor Memorial Maori Sportsperson of the Year award late last year, joins Peter Taylor in the lightweight men’s double scull at the Beijing qualifying regatta in Poznan.

Meanwhile, Tate is one of the biggest signings in the history of the Vodafone Warriors. The 25-year-old former Brisbane Broncos star – who has played 15 tests for Australia and 114 times for Brisbane – is fully recovered from the knee surgery he needed after making his 12th State of Origin appearance for Queensland in the final match of last year’s series against New South Wales.

Voted Best Sports Programme at last year’s Air New Zealand Screen Awards, HYUNDAI CODE is an hour-long live-to-air show – now in its fourth year – which is filmed in front of a studio audience at Maori Television’s Auckland headquarters. Tawera Nikau and Jenny-May Coffin are joined by Warriors’ Wairangi Koopu and the ‘Brofessionals’ – aka Glen Osborne (Oz) and Matua Parkinson (Mutz) – for more news, inside stories and off-camera action with Kiwi sports stars excelling at home and abroad.
