Easy Steps to Take A Great Gravity Plunge

MEDIA RELEASE 10 JULY 2008

Take The Plunge With Gravity

Easy Steps to Take A Great Gravity Plunge

Almost everyone has one. It’s usually hiding at the back of a cupboard. It is perfect when you’re on your own, or depending on your taste, when entertaining. It’s often overlooked, frequently misused, but when used correctly can provide something that even a trained professional can’t provide. Not sure where that introduction got you, but if you were thinking plunger – you’d be right! A kitchen utensil that has the ability to provide a perfect cup of coffee in your own home.

Don’t get us wrong - we are not saying forgo your Gravity brew from the café, but some mornings we all know a cup of coffee can make the difference to getting dressed and finding your way out the (right) door. And with these ten easy steps contributed by the fully trained Gravity baristas and Blend Master, you can now take the plunge with confidence. 1. Start with a clean and dry coffee plunger.

2. Use freshly ground Gravity coffee. The best results come from buying beans and grinding them as you go (and a grinder isn’t a huge investment).

3. Get the grind to the correct size (If the coffee grinds are too small it will make plunging very difficult, if the coffee grinds are too coarse it will make the coffee too weak).

4. Rule of thumb for measuring is a dessertspoon per person and one for the plunger (if you prefer a stronger coffee use more).

5. Pour boiled water over the coffee and fill leaving about five centimeters below the top of the plunger.

6. Stir coffee well with a spoon.

7. Replace lid on plunger and ensure that it faces the front.

8. After approximately one minute slowly push plunger down evenly to final position.

9. If pressure builds and it is difficult to plunge, do not continue to apply pressure but raise plunger 5mm before you continue plunging (if pressure builds again repeat).

10. Serve immediately. Warm the cups with boiling water for best results. Relax, enjoy and prepare for the effects of Gravity to take hold! The full range of plunger coffee consists of Beach Retreat, Espresso Love, Fair Deal, Cruise Control, Morning Fix and Jump Start, priced from $7.99 and found in supermarkets nationwide. plunge with Gravity Coffee.
