Stars line-up for Galaxy curtain raiser

ARC Mt Smart Stadium Media Release

Thursday 27 November

Stars line-up for Galaxy curtain raiser

New Zealand is assembling its own galaxy of stars in the lead up to David Beckham and the LA Galaxy vs the Oceania All Stars XI.

Olympic swimmer Moss Burmester will be a fish out of water on the soccer pitch, A1GP star Jonny Reid will travel at a slower pace than he’s used to and Brendon Pongia and Monty Betham will swap their dancing shoes for soccer boots.

While their skills won’t match the standard of Becks and his team mates, more than 35 celebs and media darlings will don their personalised Adidas strips at the exhibition match on 6 December at the ARC’s Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.

Players have been divided into two teams representing the chosen charities for The Beautiful Game – KidsCan and John Walker’s Find Your Field of Dreams.

The star studded curtain raiser will kick off at 5.30pm, with ‘The Beautiful Game’ beginning at 7.30pm.
