“Ornate” Dunedin Jewellery Celebration

Press release: Friday 23 January 2009

2009 Armstrong Prestige “Ornate” Dunedin Contemporary Jewellery Celebration

On Thursday 12 March 2009, supporters of Dunedin’s contemporary jewellers along with invited media and sponsors will be treated to a unique evening of fine wine, jewellery and music at a cocktail evening from 6pm at Scotia Restaurant and Whisky Bar.

This year’s contemporary jewellery celebration will feature stunning new works from a broad range of jewellery artists. Works by Chris Idour, Chaim Cleavin, Ted Daniels, Tony Williams, Andrew Last, Iain Henderson, David McLeod, Jing Jing Wu, Anne-Mieke Ytsma, Zantedeschia Robini, Jane Orr, Ann Cully, Victoria McIntosh, John Z Robinson, Rainer Beneke and Lyn Kelly will feature at the event. Three emerging jewellers from the Otago Polytechnic School of Art will also showcase work. Models will mingle amongst the audience giving audience members the unique opportunity of meeting jewellers as well as trying on and touching the jewellery in an informal, intimate setting.

Dunedin’s contemporary jewellers have achieved recognition both nationally and internationally for their works making “Ornate” a special opportunity to view handcrafted, one off pieces. The cocktail evening will also act as a platform to launch other open gallery evenings and exhibitions that jewellers will be holding during The Southern Trust iD Dunedin Fashion Week.

Music from talented Dunedin songstress, Emmanuelle Gomez will complement the evening.

Jewellers are delighted to again continue and strengthen their relationship with naming rights sponsor Armstrong Prestige. Support from South Island’s leading Mercedes and Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealership has allowed the event to continue to diversify and grow. There is a natural synergy between fine cars and fine jewellery and the revised event concept defines this style.

Tickets for the Armstrong Prestige “Ornate” jewellery cocktail evening are $35-00 (including GST) and will be available from Friday 30 January 2009. Tickets can be purchased from the Regent Theatre Box Office, 17 The Octagon or by phoning the Regent Theatre direct on (03) 477 8597.
