New Zealand's top ranked free skier and Atomic International pro team member skier, Jossi Wells, won the emerging talent category at last night’s Halberg Awards.
The award provides the 18-year-old with a $25,000 scholarship from Westpac Bank. The other finalists were Chris Rahardja (karate), Paige Hareb (surfing) and Graham Oberlin-Brown (rowing).
Wells flew back from competing in North America to attend the awards evening.
“This is fantastic recognition for one of our most exciting sponsored athletes,” Brandex Adventure Sports, which imports Atomic skis into New Zealand, Outdoor Director David Watt said.
“We work hard on aligning ourselves with athletes that represent the values of the brands we work with, and seeing them succeed on the world stage and recognised as New Zealanders makes us feel truly proud.”
“Jossi is a very talented young skier who we believe has the ability to make a big impact on the international stage over the next few years.”
The awards, hosted each year at a glittering dinner organised by the Halberg Trust, recognise outstanding achievement by New Zealand sports men, women, teams and coaches over the previous 12 months.
