Circus Oz fundraise for Theatre Royal

Circus Oz have a track record of fundraising and supporting various causes (more on this on their website www.circusoz.com) and they have decided while in Nelson to help out the Theatre Royal. They will take a collection for the theatre restoration at their five Nelson concerts.

This came about because they saw the old theatre and noticed the sign on it saying help was needed.

It is also likely that 5 year old Jet Jones who won the Show us your Tricks promo may get a small part in the opening night show.

Circus Fever Grows
Circus Oz March 19 – 22

Circus fever is growing in Nelson as the word spreads from Auckland about the show.

Circus Oz is showing to packed houses as part of the Auckland Festival and is drawing some of the best reviews of the festival, with the NZ Herald describing it as ‘one of the main highlights this year’ and Theatre Review saying it is ‘astonishing, terrifying, hilarious, enthralling’.

Nelson City Council Festival Co-ordinator Sophie Kelly says tickets are selling fast.

“We’re definitely getting a spin-off from the media coverage of the show in Auckland and word of mouth from people who’ve seen it there,” she said. “And it’s also reassuring that people who went to the ballet found the Trafalgar Centre a great venue – with all the problems of the Billy Connelly show ironed out.”

Circus Oz begins in Nelson on March 19, and is part of the Circus Oz 30th Birthday Bash tour, marking three decades of success based on innovative acts, off-beat aussie humour, pacey live music, amazing acrobatic skill and no animals whatsoever.
