Acclaimed International Dancers Sylvie Guillem &Russell Maliphant Set To Wow Auckland This Weekend
“Mesmerising dance a lighting delight” exclaims The Dominion Post after Push opened in Wellington on Tuesday night at the St James Theatre. “Sylvia Guillem’s centrifugal airlifted dancing made a sublime performance of great grace and apparent ease that a spellbound audience will not easily forget.”
“It resembles tai chi, yet evokes a sparing gannet, the pause of a stalking tiger, but beware the flash of a striking paw” reviewer Jennifer Shennan continued, summarizing the majesty of the show revealing “no-one coughed, no-one sneezed, no-one breathed” in the Wellington audience and that “everyone was there.”
Now Auckland will have a chance to view Sylvie Guillem and Russell Maliphant’s enthralling programme, PUSH, as it plays the ASB Theatre on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of April and witness why 24 cities around the world, including London, Paris, Venice, Madrid and New York have widely acclaimed this work.
“…comes as close to perfection as dance can. …it lingers in the mind long after the curtain has fallen. …dance you want to watch forever.” The Telegraph
“Guillem entranced audiences … mesmerising as a kind of unearthly being, rippling, probing and darting before exploding in motes of light.” – The Australian
“It’s a pairing made in Heaven.” *****The Times
"...stunningly beautiful..." – New York Post
