THE RUBY SUNS
Indie-pop darlings The Ruby Suns have been making more than a splash overseas. Signed to Sub Pop records (Nirvana, Fleet Foxes, The Shins), Ryan McPhun and his Ruby Suns now spend a fair whack of the year touring the United States and Europe. Their latest album, Sea Lion, has garnered international critical acclaim. Catch them before they head off back to the States in September.

BRAND NEW MATH
Brand New Math are an alt-pop 4 piece bubbling with the energy and excitement of an attention seeking 4-year-old armed with a pot and a wooden spoon. Utilizing gang harmonies, synthesizer stabs and samples, as well as anything else at hand, they add new elements that take them away from the usual indie guitar pop formula, creating a unique and addictive
sound.

STREET CHANT
One of the most exciting new bands to come out of Auckland's K' Rd underground scene, Street Chant (formerly Mean Street) have achieved a reputation for their additively tight and fast live show. Already familiar with the bFM Top Ten, they are working with producer Bob Frisbee to capture that live energy in their debut album. Expect to hear much more from them this year.

PANTHER AND THE ZOO
Unashamed pop through and through, Graham Panther's Zoo has gone through a few incarnations. Their debut EP featured the talents of an array of NZ and international musicians. The band now tours as a 3 piece, and is recording their debut album with an anticipated late-2009 release.
