AVATAR Reveal!
FREE Screenings of Exclusive Footage from AVATAR

Aucklanders will get a highly sought-after first look at director James Cameron’s motion picture epic AVATAR, when Twentieth Century Fox reveals 15 minutes of exclusive footage from the film on August 22 and 23. A series of free screenings will be hosted by SkyCity St Lukes cinema in 3D.

The free tickets will be available at the cinema 45 minutes before each screening (see below for screening times) and Twentieth Century Fox New Zealand general manager Mark Croft advises people to secure their tickets early as demand is likely to be strong.

He says, “People simply will not believe their eyes when they see this extraordinary film. Audiences can look forward to a whole new movie-going experience with AVATAR.”

The trailer for the film will begin playing in cinemas around New Zealand on the same day, in line with the worldwide reveal of Avatar, during which selected countries will see the scenes and the trailer for the first time. The trailer will also be available online from August 21. The full film opens in New Zealand cinemas on December 17.

AVATAR takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization. The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, AVATAR delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.
