Satisfaction survey positive for Wellington District Police

The Citizens' Satisfaction Survey indicates public perceptions of Wellington District Police are very positive, with increasing satisfaction in key areas.

The independent survey showed 79% of people in Wellington felt either full or quite a lot of trust and confidence in Police. The figure has increased from 71% last year and is also higher than the national average of 72% from all respondents surveyed.

There was also an increase in Wellingtonians who agreed Police are involved in local community activities (up from 56% to 66%). The District's stronger presence and participation in community-based activities such as last weekend's Diwali Festival and in local shopping centres has helped maintain strong, positive links with Wellington communities.

"The survey results are very pleasing and reflect the efforts of all staff across the District to provide a high standard of service to our communities," says Acting Wellington District Commander, Superintendent Hamish McCardle.

Public satisfaction with Wellington District Police service has remained stable across all measures compared with last year. No significant increases or decreases were recorded for any of the six key satisfaction measures.
