Edible Exhibition of Architecture

An edible exhibition of architecturally designed cakes and showpieces will mark the finale of a year of training for promising young bakers and pastry chefs at Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT).

Seventeen mouth watering themed displays, many featuring unique buildings will be open for public viewing this Thursday from 5pm at The School of Baking and Patisserie, at MIT, Gate 2, Otara Rd.

“I am especially excited to see the final exhibits this year as the work they have produced already throughout the year has been impressive,” says Ralf Schmidt, baking lecturer at MIT.

Included in the assessed displays will be a Marae, a Villa, an igloo, a temple, and many more creative showpieces.

“This is a big day for these students,” says Mr Schmidt, “Their best work will be judged for assessment as well as viewed by pastry chefs in leading culinary establishments and recruiters in the baking industry.”
