Media Release
Thursday 19th November

The Closing Act Pirate City Rollers Season Final 28th November 2009

Roll on up to the biggest of bout of the season! See death-defying Dead Wreckoning take on the masters of masquerade, Mascara Massacre in the third and final game of Pirate City Rollers 2009 season on Saturday 28 November. With new acts taking the stage on each team and each girl ready to showcase her skills, you're sure to enjoy this all-girl, all-grrr roller derby bout under the big top that is Skateland, Mt Wellington.

These fierce roller derby skaters have been honing their skills this year in a variety of guises, from the exhibition bout School of Hard Knocks, to taking on each other for three days straight at the Armageddon Expo, and of course rising from the dead and skating up a storm on Halloweens Monsters Brawl.

But now its serious. There are scores to settle, and they will all take centre stage at the most nail biting roller derby game of the Pirate City Rollers Circus of the Scars season. The illustrious RanDerby Shield is up for grabs, as well as the honour of being the 2009 champions.

So what can fans expect to see at the last game? The infamous can opener block to the chest, the whizzing, whirring waitress whip and many other great moves on skates. Dont forget these girls are skilled skaters, athletes and performers (as the fishnet stockings, skeleton outfits, and skate in your undies traditions go to show).

This is the last call for die-hard roller derby fans, or just the curious, to bring your loudest cheering voice, best fist pumps, and homemade team support paraphernalia all to the final bout. Standard tickets are $15, or if you dare, try out the on-rink suicide seating for $18 - get up close and personal with the Pirate City Rollers, and maybe score yourself some good luck if one flies right into your lap!
Last years final completely sold out so to make sure you dont miss out on tickets, visit, Real Groovy or your local friendly derby girl. Limited door sales available
