Two New Zealand authors from
very different fields are joining forces to create a unique
book and they want your stories. This book will link
challenging, inspirational, moving and joyful early
experiences with key insights into the development of
happiness and wellbeing for life.
Sophie Foster (author of Move Baby Move, early childhood educator and Director of the Jumping Beans children’s physical development program) is collaborating with Robyn Salisbury (author of Staying in Love, clinical psychologist and Director of Sex Therapy New Zealand) to co-create an innovative new angle on parenting.
Their new book, Love Baby Love, will highlight the importance of positive early experiences and will illustrate how parents, caring for their relationships along the way, can reinforce and support the nurturing of their child’s emotional and interpersonal skills.
While Foster’s first book, Move Baby Move, links children’s brain development with everyday activities, Salisbury’s book, Staying in Love, identifies in depth the nature of the intimate relationship and how a sense of self and the ability to relate are so powerfully shaped in the early years.
Love Baby Love will capture fundamental aspects of what children need to receive from parents and caregivers, and illustrate optimal modelling needed to grow up psychologically sound and capable of enjoying healthy relationships.
The authors invite contributions of memorable early-childhood experiences or interactions, whether from the contributor’s own or their child’s life, in the first five years.
Stories may be of happy events or challenges overcome. Contributors should include comments about the special moment, how it felt and how it may have helped to shape who they, or their child, are now.
Stories should be short (up to 300 words max) and humour is welcome. As many of the stories will be used as possible and the top 10 will go in a draw to win free, signed copies of Move Baby Move and Staying in Love. Pseudonyms will be used to protect the privacy of contributors. Please include your full contact details when submitting your stories .
