MySpace New Zealand 2010 Choice Awards Now Open

[Embargo 12:01 am 4th May 2010] MySpace today announced that the annual MySpace Choice Awards are open for voting. An opportunity to acknowledge New Zealand’s wealth of home-grown talent and the local fans which support them, the MySpace Choice Awards give MySpace users around the country the opportunity to vote for their favourite NZ bands on MySpace’s Kiwi Hub.

Spanning a breadth of genres, including; Rock, Hip Hop/UrbanRoots, Pop, Indie, Comedy, Electronic/Dance, Up and Coming and ‘Your Choice’ the list of nominated artists (outlined below) were selected from a range of popular signed and unsigned bands in the MySpace Top 500.

In addition to recognising established and popular artists, the MySpace Choice Awards - in line with MySpace’s roots - is committed to supporting independent artists and as such there is a strong focus on up-and-coming Kiwi bands in the nomination list.

With voting open until May 31st Kiwi music lovers have the rest of May to cast their vote to determine which Kiwi artist will win a MySpace promotional banner worth $5,000, an editorial promotional package on MySpace NZ and Australia, and the overall MySpace Choice Award.

In addition to supporting their favourite band, entrants will also go in the draw to a win a suite of fantastic prizes including:

- $500 cash

- A year’s subscription to Real Groove

- Flip Mino HD video camera (link to www.theflip.co.nz )

- NZ Music Month prize package

- CD’s from winning artists in each category

- Tickets to MySpace Secret Show for winner and friends

Voting closes May 31st and winners will be announced June 2nd. Go to Kiwi Hub to cast your vote.
