Gravity Festival Tuesday
Artists will be the winners in this fast track viewing event, with over 1,000 people expected to take up the invitation when Gravity Festival Tuesday, a photographic circuit, returns to the Auckland Festival of Photography’s programme on Tuesday, 8th June.
For a double shot of Gravity and local photography, Aucklanders can take in 10 exhibitions over 9 galleries and be driven between galleries in the warmth and comfort of a fleet of Minis.
Chris Brown, Marketing Manager for Gravity says, ‘Gravity hopes Aucklanders get around town for this year’s Gravity Festival Tuesday and support the artists and galleries. We’re pleased to be supporting Auckland Festival of Photography delivering another great free festival.”
After last years hugely successful night, artists exhibitions open will from 5.30pm to 9pm and include the legendary Gil Hanly’s retrospective “One of My Worlds” at Whitespace alongside cutting edge photographer Rebecca Swan’s own exhibition “Dying to Know”.
Roberta Thornley’s work, recently shown in Sydney’s Stills Gallery, will gets it’s first New Zealand outing at Tim Melville Gallery whilst around the corner on Lorne Street at Gow Langsford is Patrick Reynold’s work in “3 x1”.
Also showing their work in this massive fun event is Darren Glass at Anna Miles Gallery on High Street. K’ Road joins the fun this year with Te Karanga Gallery ‘Reverie’, whilst Ponsonby Road’s contributes Artstation’s “Transition”.
On the outer circuit is “Verge” at Satellite Gallery in Newton which shows work by Jenny Tomlin, Richard Smallfield, Hamish McDonald, with our Dominion Road outpost at The Digital Darkroom with Murray Noble’s “Taking Flight”.
Principle sponsor, Gravity is behind the evening making the entire evening free of charge. With cars leaving every 10 minutes between 6-9pm, patrons will be dropped off at a gallery and when they’re finished they can grab another car and be whisked off to the next one.
